The nest is a moderately large heap of twigs with a cup like depression on the top (resembles a volcano ;)).
The bison you mention is called Gaur (Bos gaurus). There are no Bisons in India, but people tend to call them thus; who cares!

One more thing: from what I have heard from the tribals, keeping Porcupine quills at your home brings bad luck! :P

Riyan.Pulchaadihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13508350699582158109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-842082303563835691.post-46025318211891947692012-08-30T21:17:03.425-07:002012-08-30T21:17:03.425-07:00WHAT AN INCREDIBLE JOURNEY , ABBEY !!!WHAT AN INCREDIBLE JOURNEY , ABBEY !!!GMThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16354454631494205298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-842082303563835691.post-29795868258565974572012-08-30T21:15:55.715-07:002012-08-30T21:15:55.715-07:00WHAT AN INCREDIBLE JOURNEY , ABBEY !!!WHAT AN INCREDIBLE JOURNEY , ABBEY !!!GMThttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16354454631494205298noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-842082303563835691.post-85534819471019443842012-08-30T09:02:51.497-07:002012-08-30T09:02:51.497-07:00Thanks Riyan for the comments. She was feeding her chicks in and out throughout the day, all the while whistling! just as I amhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01717604718412762451noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-842082303563835691.post-31261928602665740802012-08-30T01:43:59.754-07:002012-08-30T01:43:59.754-07:00Nice read all through; envy you for these rides!!
...Nice read all through; envy you for these rides!!

I can help you with the animals you met during the ride: the deer you saw is not a Sambar, its the Barking Deer. The blue birdie is none other than Malabar Whistling Thrush, so elusive but his school-boy whistling can be heard all the time through out the high ranges.

Riyan.Pulchaadihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13508350699582158109noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-842082303563835691.post-44353734145086485282012-08-29T20:05:21.853-07:002012-08-29T20:05:21.853-07:00Thanks Prem for the comments.
